Gioacchino Volpe (Paganica, February 16, 1876 – Santarcangelo di Romagna, October 1, 1971) was an Italian historian and politician. He graduated from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, where he studied under Amedeo Crivellucci and met Giovanni Gentile. Between 1925 and 1937 he directed the Medieval and Modern History section of the Enciclopedia Italiana and served as Secretary General of the Accademia d’Italia from 1929 to 1934. King Umberto II awarded him the Order of Civil Merit of Savoy during his exile. (Treccani Biography)
The historian’s collection consists of 2,300 printed volumes, periodicals, correspondence, typescripts, and numerous handwritten working notes.
