The Santarcangelo Library, as a preservation institution, safeguards important archival and documentary collections. Among these are the Municipal Historical Archive, which includes administrative documents dating back to the 13th century, and the Ancient Book Collection, containing over three thousand works from the 15th to the 19th century. Among the most significant holdings are the collection of writer and literary critic Antonio Baldini (Rome, 1889–1962); the collection of historian Gioacchino Volpe (Paganica, 1876–Santarcangelo, 1971); and the Santarcangelo dei Teatri Archive. The library also holds personal archives of Maria Pascucci, Teresa Franchini, Carlo Carlini, Luigi Renato Pedretti and Paolo Carlini, as well as archives of musicians Giulio Faini, Serino Giorgetti and Ruggero Grisoli, and a documentation center on Romagnol dialect poetry. Two other archives are present in the municipality: the Workers’ Mutual Aid Society archive and the San Michele Arcangelo Parish Archive.
